Comprehensive Well Control
RigQA offers a unique program for preventing and managing Well Control incidents. We recommend a comprehensive plan that begins with the classroom training that is IADC accredited. We can then audit your rig to insure that the Well Control equipment meets industry standards, is properly maintained and can provide the protection it is designed for. We can also conduct a RigQA Skills Audit. This audit is based on the rig contractors assigned well control duties for each employee. We will walk through these duties with each employee and assess their ability and skills to fulfill the expectations at that position. Any gaps in skills, ability or training will be identified for correction.
Due to the amount of growth that the Drilling industry has experienced it has been highlighted that; skills and training require a greater focus.
RigQA International has broken well control down into three parts;
2 Key Skills Assessments
3 Practical Well Control
RigQA completes a site inspection of all the equipment that is used during a well control event.
Ensuring that all regulatory bodies are complied with including the policies and standards set out by the owner/operator. The inspection is carried out with an open book approach; any items that are found to be deficient are rectified or mitigated in a TEAM approach. If there are any gaps found in the knowledge base of the personnel onsite, training is given on, an as needed basis. If further training is required, then a dedicated course can be given.
RigQA key skills assessment consists of every critical crew member on site and can also include the drilling superintendents and company man.
This identifies each person’s roles and responsibilities; Pre kick, kick detection, circulating a kick, emergency response, policies and training. Once complete the key skills assessments will highlight any additional training that may be required.
IADC WellSHARP Well Control Certification
RigQA offers IADC WellCSHARP Accredited Well Control at both Fundamental and Supervisor Level for both Surface and Subsea BOP Stacks.
During this difficult time in our Industry Rig QA International is lowering their charge for IADC WellSharp Well Control courses. We realize that Companies are struggling to retain their employees and that Consultants are being asked to lower their rates. To assist in this Rig QA International will begin charging $1,500.00 per student for our Supervisor Level, and $1,300 per student for our Driller Level courses, at any stack qualification. This is for Drilling only or Drilling with Workover/Completion. One course, one cost. Once our Industry recovers we hope that you will continue to use our training as we adjust our prices to again be competitive with other quality training providers.
RigQA‘s focus on Well Control is a philosophy of application. Well Control theory is necessary to have a complete skillset of handling a well control incident, but being able to make decisions during the event is critical. To enable students to accomplish this we encourage the participants to analyze during a well control event rather than rely on executing memorized procedures.
Our courses exceed the minimum time requirements of IADC WellSHARP, to allow us the time to devote to each participant in developing their skills in kick recognition, shut in and choke manipulation based on recognizing information on surface gauges. We will also strive to keep our class size to a maximum of 8 students per 1 instructor to allow for more individual attention to your employee.
RigQA‘s simulators are current with industry standards and range in size from traveling CS Ultra lights to a custom full scale rig floor simulator.
Crisis Management Gap Analysis
RigQA‘s rig floor simulator can be utilized to allow evaluation
of your company’s Crisis Management Plan during a Well Control event. Utilizing your own well design, we will program the simulator for a well control event. Your field personnel will be on the simulator with your Crisis Management Team in a custom designed trailer that has Real Time monitoring of the rig’s well control data to simulate your office’sCrisis Management Center. Video cameras will record both rig and office operations for a complete after action review.
Advanced Well Control Seminar
A 2 day course designed to delve deeper into the Well Control Methods when the Drillers Method or W&W will not work.
The First day is focused on using the simulators to practice the Volumetric and Lube&Bleed.
The second day covers some of the well control issues that occur once the severity of a well control event exceeds the rig crew’s level of training.
Course sizes are being kept small so that each participant gets time to participate and ask questions. This is not a “Lunch and Learn” or a marketing tool. This is an advanced look at more complex issues that other training courses mention but to not explore.
